Terms of service
Last updated: September 7, 2026
These terms govern the purchase and use of Papyra, a software library for composing and rendering documents ("the Software"), offered at papyra.rocks by Stefan Nikolei, sole proprietor, Germany ("we", "us"). The postal address and the statutory notice under § 5 DDG are on the imprint page.
1. Licensing
The Software is licensed, not sold. Three tiers are available: Community(free, for individuals and companies below $1M USD annual gross revenue),Professional, and Enterprise. Companies of any size can additionally request a free 45-day evaluation key for non-production use. The tier's scope of use is described on the pricing page and confirmed at checkout.
A paid license grants the licensee a non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Software in its own applications, including commercial ones, for the duration of the subscription. Redistributing the Software itself - as a library, SDK, or development tool - is not permitted.
2. Purchases and payment
Orders are processed by our reseller and merchant of record, Paddle, who handles payment, applicable taxes (VAT/sales tax), and invoicing. Paddle's buyer terms apply to the checkout.
3. License keys and renewals
Paid licenses are delivered as a signed license key by email after checkout. Keys are valid for one year. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled; renewal issues a fresh key. The key is verified when you build your application; an expired key does not stop an application you already built from working, but building again requires a current key.
4. Refunds
Every purchase is covered by a 30-day money-back guarantee; see the refund policy for how to claim it. A refund ends the license: the license key delivered for the refunded purchase may no longer be used after the refund. Statutory withdrawal rights, where they apply, are unaffected by this guarantee.
5. Warranty and liability
The Software is provided "as is". Its capabilities and current limitations are documented openly in the feature support matrix and known limitations. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages; our total liability is limited to the amount paid for the license in the twelve months preceding the claim.
6. Third-party components
The Software depends on third-party packages whose licenses are listed in the documentation. Consumed through the Software, these packages require no separate license from the licensee.
