Common questions
Who qualifies for the Community tier?
Individuals, open-source projects, and companies below $1M USD annual gross revenue. Community keys are free - request one via the form at papyra.rocks/community; requests are reviewed manually and the key arrives by email, usually within a day or two.
Is this a subscription or a perpetual license?
A yearly subscription. Your license key is valid for one year; renewal delivers a fresh key. If you stop paying, applications you already built keep working - the license is only checked at build time, so an expired key just means your next build needs a fresh one.
When do I get my license key?
Paid tiers: immediately - the key is generated and emailed automatically the moment Paddle confirms the payment, typically within a minute or two of checkout. Community and evaluation keys are reviewed manually and arrive by email within a day or two.
Can we evaluate Papyra before buying?
Yes. Companies above the $1M Community threshold can request a free 45-day evaluation key via the community form - it covers evaluation, development, testing, and staging, just not production use.
I lost my key, or the email never arrived - what now?
Check your spam folder first, then write to hello@papyra.rocks. Keys are stored with the order, so we simply re-send yours - nothing needs to be re-purchased.
How is VAT handled?
Paddle is the merchant of record: checkout calculates and collects the correct VAT or sales tax for your country and issues the invoice. Business buyers can enter a VAT ID at checkout for reverse charge.
Are features locked behind paid tiers?
No. Every tier ships the identical library - PDF/A, all renderers, the companion app (currently in beta). Paid tiers buy the commercial usage right and support, not features.
Does the library phone home?
Never. License keys are signed tokens verified offline against an embedded public key. No network calls, no telemetry, and your documents stay on your machines.
What about refunds?
Full refund within 30 days of purchase, no justification needed. The license grant ends with the refund, so the key must no longer be used after that. See the refund policy.
Is there anything else I need to license?
No. Papyra depends on SixLabors.Fonts and DocumentFormat.OpenXml, and both are licensed to you at no cost: SixLabors.Fonts is a transitive dependency, which the Six Labors Split License covers under Apache 2.0 regardless of your company size. Details are in the third-party licenses page.
